The Doobie Brothers are a California rock band known for their vocal harmonies and versatility. Tom Johnston (guitars, vocals) and Patrick Simmons (guitars, vocals) are founding members, along with Michael McDonald (keyboards, vocals), John McFee (guitars, pedal steel, violin, backing vocals), John Cowan (bass, vocals), Bill Payne (keyboards), Marc Russo (saxophones), Ed Toth (drums), and Marc Quinones (percussion). The Doctor, “Listen to the Music,” “Jesus Is Just Alright,” “Long Train Runnin’,” “China Grove,” “Black Water” (No. 1 in 1974), “Takin’ It to the Streets,” and “What A Fool Believes” (No. 1 in 1979) is still played on classic rock radio. The Doobie Brothers were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 7, 2020. The trio has sold over 40 million albums.
